Literacy Leadership Program
The Minnesota Literacy Leadership Program engages Americorps VISTA members to design and carry out literacy initiatives in partnership with schools and community organizations. Literacy Leaders help people gain the skills they need to share their stories, achieve their goals and succeed in school and in the workforce.
Past Literacy Leaders have:
- Piloted a volunteer-run writers’ room offering support to under-resourced high school students
- Developed family literacy programs providing ESL education to parents and children
- Created digital distance-learning programs for adult ESL students
