Sensory Poem

Purpose: To review vocabulary in a structured poem format. 

Materials: Sensory poem sentence frame sheet. You can find a copy here

Preparation: Print out sensory poem sheet 

Procedure: 

1. Review key vocabulary such as looks, feels, tastes, etc.
2. Model creating a poem. An example is below.
3. Do an example together with the student (s). It is wise to brainstorm some ideas of the words they could choose.
4. Have students work individually, in pairs or in teams to create their own. 

Happiness looks like green grass

Happiness feels like my blue blanket

Happiness tastes like pizza

Happiness smells like corned beef

Happiness sounds like someone else using the vacuum cleaner
