Collaborating with our communities
Over the past few months, we've been getting together with the people who make Literacy Minnesota what it is, and what we've heard has been humbling. Our volunteers have been showing up for decades, not just for a single program or location, but wherever they're needed most. They collaborate with each other and with our teachers, and they light up when they talk about what they see in learners. We even heard from a long-time donor who, at one point, had their entire family volunteering with us. That kind of commitment grows out of genuine belief in this work.
We've also been in conversation with partners across the adult basic education space, and we're hearing what many of you may already sense: a shifting funding landscape that calls for honest thinking about how organizations like ours position themselves for what's ahead. And from learners themselves, the message is clear: they want to come back to the classroom. After years of online learning, people are ready to be in the room together again.
All of it - the loyalty, the candor, the enthusiasm to reconnect - has reminded us why these conversations matter. If you haven't had a chance to join one yet, we have a few more gathering sessions coming up on June 3, 10, July 16, and August 11, and we'd love to see you there. You can register here.
Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do.
