ReadWorks.org

  • ReadWorks.org can provide ABE teachers with a high-quality library of fiction and nonfiction passages that can increase reading comprehension (both literal and inferential), vocabulary acquisition and writing skills for learners. It is targeted at K-12 grade readers, but is easily transferable to adult learners because of the science, social studies, art, history and cultural content of its readings. Everything created by ReadWorks is “based on proven cognitive science research, not unproven academic theory.” Further information about the site's research base is on their website.

  • ReadWorks has a comprehensive teacher guide to aid educators in finding the best fit components of the site for their classroom settings.  The website also provides webinars- on demand and live- for teachers to learn about how to use ReadWorks.
