Interplay Learning

The Interplay course catalog contains approximately 615 courses spanning workforce and skilled trades training, including HVAC, commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, solar, clean energy, data centers, automotive, safety and compliance, hospitality, residential construction, professional development, and other specialized industries.

These pathways are designed to introduce learners to career fields, workplace expectations, and foundational technical skills while helping them explore potential career options before pursuing more advanced occupational training.

The available content supports workforce development through interactive, simulation-based learning. Learners complete realistic, hands-on virtual simulations that mirror tasks commonly performed in skilled trades and technical occupations, allowing them to safely build foundational knowledge and practice workplace skills in a structured learning environment.

Skills developed through the platform include technical competency, workforce readiness, digital literacy, employability skills, communication, independent learning, career exploration, problem-solving, safety awareness, and applied technical knowledge. The platform also supports differentiated instruction through multimodal learning opportunities, simulation-based training, repeated practice, accessibility supports, and competency-based progression aligned to diverse learner needs.

Many of the available pathways are also designed to prepare learners for industry-recognized credentials and certifications as they continue their training. Depending on the pathway, this may include preparation related to OSHA safety training, EPA 608 certification, NATE certification, CDL preparation, and other workforce readiness credentials.

In addition to technical coursework, Orijin also includes career exploration and transition resources such as career interest profilers, milestone mapping, occupation exploration, job bookmarking, and career planning tools that complement the instructional content and support learners in identifying postsecondary education and employment opportunities.

The platform includes multiple administrative, records-management, analytics, and reporting features accessible through the secure Orijin Administrative Portal. Authorized staff and instructors are able to manage user access, assign coursework, monitor learner participation, review instructional engagement, and analyze student progress across workforce and educational pathways.

Administrative features include:

  • Location and user management

  • Outcomes and progress tracking

  • Learner engagement and time-on-task reporting

  • Login and participation monitoring

  • Certificate and course completion tracking

  • Assignment submission reporting

  • Student progress dashboards

  • Analytics and milestone mapping tools

  • Communication and learner messaging features

The system provides both real-time and longitudinal reporting capabilities, allowing educational staff to review learner activity across multiple reporting periods (7-day, 30-day, 90-day, yearly, and custom ranges). Reporting tools support instructional accountability, individualized learner support, workforce readiness tracking, and data-informed educational decision-making within secure correctional and alternative education environments.

Examples of available reporting features include:

  • Student login tracking

  • Time-on-task analytics

  • Outcomes and progress dashboards

  • Assignment submission analytics

  • Certificate generation reporting

  • Program participation metrics

  • Workforce pathway completion data

  • Facility and housing-area engagement reports

The platform is intended to supplement adult education instruction and workforce-readiness programming rather than to function as a stand-alone adult basic education curriculum. The platform serves as an additional workforce-development, career exploration, digital literacy, and transition-readiness resource that complements existing adult education services while supporting broader employability and career-connected learning outcomes within adult and correctional education environments. As supplemental content, learners using this platform must also be enrolled in core ABE content.
