Texts on CommonLit are intended for grades 3-12.
The CommonLit Literacy Model is built on a foundation of over 2,000 high-quality free reading passages for grades 3-12, complemented by aligned interim assessments, growth-oriented data, and expert-led teacher development.
- Proxy Hour Equivalent: One (1) proxy hour per completed reading and assessment questions; Two (2) proxy hours per completed reading and assessment questions with guiding questions assigned OR written responses required. Online or printed (PDF) version is acceptable if teacher verifies student work.
- Criteria for awarding Proxy Hour Equivalent: 70% or higher score on assessment questions
- This is a unit completion platform, so proxy hours should NOT be multiplied by 1.25.
- Proxy Hour Documentation: Copies of student reports from data management system. Here's a short screencast showing you how to access student data to collect proxy hours from the CommonLit website. CommonLit Video (If using printed assignments, a spreadsheet showing the learner name, assignment title, date completed, and score is acceptable.)
