Theresa is responsible for developing the literacy council's Navigation Project, designed to assist students overcome barriers that prevent them from succeeding in their educational pursuits. She is also a substitute coordinator and teacher for the literacy council, and enjoys volunteering at Open Door Learning Center--Northside, where she teaches weekly Intermediate and Beginning classes.
Theresa developed a passion for literacy as a young child being read to by her mom. Stories and research were passions developed early on and the desire to pass on the love of learning and the joy of reading were first seen when she was playing school, directing plays, and writing stories with her siblings and neighbors.
Previously, Theresa worked at the Neighborhood Involvement Program as a psychological counselor, and as the Manager of Training at Teltech Resource Network. She received her B.S. in Biology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, and her M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. Her personal interests include travel, the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new places and activities.
