Mya Shaftel
ESL Teacher
As an ESL teacher at Open Door Learning Center - Lake Street, Mya loves finding ways to help students recognize their potential and fulfill their goals in learning English. Her students inspire her. Every day they help her understand how to be more patient and inclusive in this world.
Mya holds an MA in ESL from Hamline University. She also has a BA in Art History & Studio Art from Gustavus Adolphus College, as well as an MA in Art History from Northern Illinois University.
Her personal interests include hot yoga, reading, traveling, visiting art museums and collecting art, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
