Mena Duarte
Distance Learning Project (AmeriCorps VISTA)
Mena (men-ah) is working on Literacy Minnesota's Distance Learning AmeriCorps VISTA project. Mena was raised by an immigrant mother, Maria, who went from speaking only Spanish to becoming a certified nurse (LPN) and works as a clinical interpreter. Recognizing the power of literacy to change lives, Mena is excited to join Literacy Minnesota!
Mena previously served 2 terms with AmeriCorps VISTA at Literacy Minnesota, 4 terms with Reading Corps, and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. She is currently working on an interview podcast with entrepreneurs who made a business out of following their curiosity, called Curiosity Built the Empire.
