Jim Afdahl is currently Vice President, Business Services and State Relationship Manager for the GED Testing Service, after serving that organization as Vice President and CFO for several years. Jim continues to coordinate events between Literacy Minnesota and the GED Testing Service. Jim is also a board member of the Creating IT Futures Foundation and recently completed his term as Treasurer of the Board of Minnesota High Tech Foundation. Jim’s previous finance positions include EMC Publishing, NCS Pearson and Cenex (CHS Cooperatives). After graduating from Luther College with a B.A. in Accounting, Jim began his career with the CPA firm Coopers & Lybrand. Over the years, Jim has been a small group leader in his church on various topics, including job transitions, personal financial literacy, and leadership. Jim was first introduced to the literacy council by his wife, who is a literacy council-trained tutor. Jim tries to live by the motto of a previous employer which is “Always Learning”. It’s a motto that has meaning and purpose starting from birth and continuing throughout life.
