Emily Fox-Penner

Access Coordinator VISTA

Emily is serving as Literacy Minnesota’s 2021-2022 Access Coordinator VISTA. Emily believes that literacy is a crucial tool for civic, political, and economic empowerment and she is thrilled to join Literacy Minnesota this year to support accessibility and advance disability justice in ABE. Emily has taught English at Boston’s Vietnamese American Community Center and tutored remotely with Literacy Minnesota’s Open Door Learning Center Northside. She also spent a year working on programming, partnerships, and development for Junior Wildlife Ranger, a small nonprofit creating environmental education programs at National Wildlife Refuges. Emily received a B.A. in philosophy from Harvard, where she was an undergraduate fellow at the Safra Center for Ethics and a community organizer for the campus Title IX group. Outside of VISTA service, Emily enjoys spending time at libraries, museums, and parks.
