André Lambelet believes that education is the bedrock of a just and democratic society. He taught at the University of Oregon’s R D Clark Honors College, the University of Adelaide in Australia, and Quest University Canada in British Columbia; he was won awards for teaching, advising, and mentoring. He holds a BA in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MA and PhD in history from the University of California, Berkeley.

Raised in Europe, Japan, and the United States, his curiosity about cultural differences shaped both his research, which focuses on citizenship, race, and identity in France; and his teaching, which included courses on colonialism, race, and identity; urban history; world history; and the history of war and conflict. He has sat on countless university committees, chaired a fair few of them,  and served as the coordinator of the Division of Arts and Humanities at Quest University. He has worked with refugees as an interpreter, volunteers as an English teacher with Literacy Minnesota, and has served on the boards of community organizations in California and Minnesota. He now runs a writing and editorial consulting business.

He enjoys spending time with his family, discovering new places and people, and photography.
