Wendy Roberts

Volunteer Outreach and Hotline Manager

Wendy Vang Roberts is the Volunteer Outreach and Hotline Manager. She is responsible for managing statewide volunteer and adult learner outreach. In addition to her role, she serves on the Literacy Minnesota Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Governance Committee and the Literacy Action Network Board as the Volunteer Engagement Co-Chair. She also volunteers at the Open Door Learning Center - Arlington Hills as a GED navigator. Wendy started with the literacy council in 2013 as a volunteer ESL teacher at the Open Door Learning Center – Lake Street and was a summer Community Outreach Intern at the main office until joining the staff in 2014 in the children’s programs. She has worked in the Children's Tutor Training, National Service, Libraries and Literacy Leadership (L3), Adult Literacy Hotline and Volunteer Outreach departments. Her parents are Hmong refugees and together they experienced first-hand the importance of literacy, igniting her passion for education and community outreach. Wendy has a B.S. in Business Management and a Master of Public and Nonprofit Administration from Metropolitan State University. Outside of work she enjoys watching sci-fi shows with her husband, cooking, traveling and spending time with her two dogs, Asra and Ajax.
