Sarah comes to Literacy Minnesota with a background in education and student support and is the PM coordinator at Open Door Learning Center – Northside. Sarah grew up in a small town on the prairie in southwestern Minnesota, where reading books and playing outside were the best forms of entertainment. A love of reading and learning helped Sarah succeed as a first-generation college student. Sarah earned a B.S. in Zoology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Tulsa. After advising students at the University of Minnesota for 13 years, she decided to focus on grant writing and teaching. Many years of volunteer teaching at Literacy Minnesota convinced her that it was time to help students full-time and share her passion for learning. Outside of the classroom she enjoys watching birds and insects, hiking, scuba diving, gardening, and practicing yoga.
