Rachel Spurgers

Before coming to work as Operations Coordinator at Literacy Minnesota, Rachel Spurgers had a variety of jobs in education and office management. Rachel led a literacy-focused residency at the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter in which they used theatre games and exercises to help improve literacy and reading comprehension. Rachel has also previously taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and Alfred University. In addition to education, Rachel has also worked as a project leader at the Science Museum of Minnesota, production manager at Artist Laboratory, a site-specific theatre company based in Arkansas, and residency coordinator for the Momentary. As a playwright and teaching artist, Rachel strongly believes that literacy connects and empowers us as we all search for ways of understanding one another. Outside of work, Rachel loves board games, animation, and playing with her multiple pets. Rachel uses she/her and they/them pronouns.
