Abby Sunde is a visual artist who places an emphasis on community work and engagement. She also serves on Ramsey County's Equity Action Circle. Previously, she worked in the East Metro Native American community as the Emergency Services Coordinator for the Department of Indian Work, a program of Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul.
Her journey with Literacy Minnesota began in 2016 when she served as an AmeriCorps Literacy VISTA with the Department of Indian Work’s afterschool and summer youth program. In this role she developed curriculum for youth and saw the impact literacy can make in a person’s life.
Abby is a first generation, direct descendent of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She holds undergraduate degrees in Biology and in Environmental Sciences from University of Minnesota – Morris. Abby is passionate about the opportunities for equity and inclusion that can come through literacy and the joy that literacy can provide. She is honored to serve on the board of directors here at Literacy Minnesota.
